Amy Porter
MSW, LSW, EMDR
Listener & Believer, Bubble Blower, Self-Compassion Superhero in Training
Amy provides a safe, supportive space in therapy where clients can show up fully, just as they are. She helps individuals create the space to dismantle known and unknown obstacles blocking them from embodying their true selves. Amy believes that everyone already has the capacity to heal and thrive; they just need the right environment and support to unravel and relearn.
Amy has recently expanded her practice to support adults seeking healing through EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Since 2012, she has primarily worked with children and families in home and school settings, addressing child behavior, developmental disabilities, and early childhood trauma. Her experience spans a range of clients, including first-time parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, teen parents, and foster/adoptive families. She also integrates art therapy, sand tray therapy, wilderness therapy, play therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her practice.
Outside of therapy, Amy is deeply engaged in her community in the North Fork Valley in Paonia, CO, on the Western Slope. Over the last decade, she has volunteered with the Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Center, educated youth in prevention, served as a National Forest ranger, and participated in Search & Rescue. Since 2017, Amy has focused on racial justice education, actively developing her understanding of internal bias and translating it into advocacy work. She currently serves on the board of Delta County Cares, supporting social and racial justice efforts. Amy offers therapy online and in-person at her Paonia, CO location.
